Hi Mark. Great looking build! If this is the CBG that you're asking about for string gauge, etc. I have a couple of thoughts. I'm still pretty new at this (just finished my 5th) so watch for other suggestions.
If you plan to use the slide exclusively, heavier gauge stings work well (more sound, less "tinny" sound). A Medium to Heavy gauge acoustic set will work well.
If you plan to use the frets (finger some notes), light to medium work better. I tried a set of light gauge electric strings on one guitar and it works great through the amp, but sounds horrible unplugged.
I use the 3rd through 6th strings for my 4-stringer (6th being heaviest). I tuned the 6th to D (down from standard E). The 5th is "G", 4th is "D", 3rd is "G" again. So, DGDG. It's a basic GDG tuning with a low D.
