  • It does seem to balance a little better when sitting.  I would definitely have the tail go out the back if I did it again.
  • Thanks for the tips, J.P. and Michael. I think I'll try one of these designs as well.

  • I have a sketch that looks a lot like this on ly desk at work right now. Drew it up a couple of weeks ago. I have the tail going out the back of the box for the strings to attach. Might make more room on the box that way. Nice to see it in a physical form. My idea was to try and balance it while sitting so there was no need for a strap. Does it work that way on this one?
  • Thanks for your comments Rand!  I designed it with the angled neck thinking it would be more ergonomic and look cool.  I think that the ergonomic idea would have worked out better with a few changes:  1- a bigger box;  2 - bridge a litter further back; and/or finger board extending less onto box.  I have large hands and the distance between finger board and bridge seems too crowded.  Otherwise, I like the way it turned out.  Oh ya....it took me a lot longer to build!
  • Hi J.P.

How do you like playing this instrument with its tilted neck? Does it feel better to hold? I should probably build one for no other reason than to figure out the angles. Interesting build.
