Hi Paul, thanks for the compliments! Yes, weirdly when I started experimenting with buildng these I couldn't find any cigar-boxes in my part of town, despite a lot of searching! However, I did turn up lots of tins in the charity shops... I guess it comes down to the Brits being more likely to have nice biscuit and a cup of tea (both stored in tins) rather than smoke a cigar! What you call the headstock cap is really a combined 'tail'-piece/string retainer and nut of my own design (this photo shows an early version with a brass rod, now removed and the brass itself notched), which I sawed from a piece of a brass letterbox. It took ages! I moved on to aluminium for the next 20 or so, because it's a lot easier to work(!), and cheaper to buy in
but the last bunch have had (keeping the Brit-theme!) Old Pre-decimal One Pennies from c.1910-1949, which are the perfect size for *some* of the necks!!!
I like your builds. You must have great access to your tins, you have a lot of really nice pieces on display. I like your tuner/headstock configuration. What are you using for the headstock cap, something found or did you fabricate it? Thanks for posting.
