Bought a brandnew 12.5 inch thickness planer last week. This is making a huge difference in the quality of my fretboards and my glue joints! Got it at Canadian Tire for $199 and it comes with a quality metal stand.

Hi Bert....yes it works great, even planes down to about 3/16th inch for thin pieces like fret boards. Best investment I've made this year! Love CanTire products, any time I've had a problem with a product it has been an over the counter swap with a new unit or a free upgrade to a better product, no questions asked! For us hobbyists they are King!!!!
