    structural Jay, the idea is so there is more box area free to vibrate, but i do have a humbucker too

    Is the plate structural, or for twangerifficness? I'm working on one right now where I have a thin plate hanging off the bottom of a neck-through. We'll see how it turns out. (there's a humbucker in there, too... just in case lol)
