Here is a photo I took as I was adding frets to the fretboard. I'm beginning to understand why a separate fretboard is a good idea... if you screw it up, you don't have to toss the head/neck assembly. Just make a new fretboard.

Hmmm... That's a good idea. Just remove the frets, plane down the wood and add a fretboard. Maybe that's how I can save a couple of necks which are essentially lying in the junk pile. I guess I'll give it a go. Wish I had a few more electric tools, though.
Hopefully if anyone messes up the frets on a neck without a fretboard they would just remove some wood and add a fretboard and have a second go. It would be a shame to throw a neck away for messed up frets. It may be just me, but I have a bit of a thing about trying not to waste wood.
