  • that is exactly what happened don. i went to our storage shed after seeing a how to build a cbg on instructables and everything was in there (aside from the bamboo squerwer frets, they where in the kitchen).i got a lot to learn but i think i'm at the right place for that.

  • Authentic! Like when folks had to make em with what was on hand and laying around. Nice job! It takes some time bending those nails by hand you might want to invest in a nail bender though! :D

  • That is one fine and funky hunk o' hardware. A-Yup...

  • I guess I'd move the sound hole farther from the bridge, closer to the neck. The wood will be weak near the hole and more tension on the bridge might sag or crack solid wood. Your top looks thick. Thinner would be more twang. Introduce a magnetic electric pickup and a thick top doesn't matter as much, it even helps for a rich sustain. I've got some deep boxes that play ok. I sit down to play, so the big box isn't a problem. Big acoustic guitars are 4 inches deep often. Big sound, big box...

  • @ bluesheart and dave... the big hole and box (the full drawer) gives some good sound... kinda mellow tone but does me right for now on these nice missouri nights... got two more in the works (i dismantle the drawer and reasemble with glue, tacks, and bar clamps to make sure they are solid) but i cut them down from 4 1/4 inches (pictured) to 2 1/4 inches deep for ease of play...those corners dig in to ya after a while ...also switched to an oak neck (another barn score)... i do wonder about reinforcing the bridge so i could put heavier strings on it? would like a bit more twang than the d'addoria folk nylons that i have on it... thanks for the comments and any advice.

  • Nice big soundhole too. I like where your bridge is out on the box.

  • Looks great and I bet it sounds good too with that big box!
