To better fit the machine tuners, I've decided to narrow down the width of my slotted headstock to 6 slats (5cm by 0.5cm by 85" long pieces of trim wood). I'm also considering the use of one or more dowels, or even wood screws, to more securely connect the headstock to the teardrop-shaped hoop.
