  To curb some of this loss I have been putting the volume and tone knobs on the top edge or the bottom edge of the box. The less stuff you have on the top the better it will resonate.

  I already know it will sound great as an acoustic. Putting the pickup in it will hurt it some but I think it needs to be electric.

  It will also get a coat of sealer and two coats of lacquer. Then it will pop. I also think it sinks into the wood and gives it a better acoustic sound.
