"LA VILLA RAY" - A work friend ask me if I would build him CBG as a Christmas present for his son who plays guitar in a rock band. So, this is it. The body is an old wooden La Villa Ray cigar box. The brief was to make it look "aged" yet "refined" (rather like "Little Roarer" that I built a year ago). I stained and sympathetically "aged" the box, sapele neck and walnut fretboard to which I hammered some brass frets and marker dots into. Bridge is made from some old weathered wood then stained and brass fretwire added. The mini humbucker puts out 7.2k which I patinated to suit the build. Finally a wax and polish to bring out the colour detail. The action is set for fretted and slide. Tuning is GDg: Hopefully this guitar will add another dimension to my friend's son's playing.

That's very kind of you to say Southern Ray. He sent me a vid over the Christmas holiday of him playing some heavy blues on it. I'm so pleased he likes it.
Thank you very much for your likes and comments Keith, BrianQ, AGP, Andries and Denbo - I think I put a little more effort and "patience" into this build because it was for someone else. Very satisfying when the finished article comes out the way you hope it will. Part of me would like to keep it, so I guess I'll just have to build another one like it sometime, ha.
I'm even thinking about doing a brief demo vid with this one before I let it go.
"Woweee" Bob!, everything about this beautiful build, from top to bottom, is just "So Right", I personally would find it very hard to part with this cracker of a build! :-)
