This was my first online purchase of a cigarbox back in late 2009. I was very excited its a 1912 La Corona box. If only I had of check the dimensions. Its only 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 x 1 1/2 deep. Anybody got any ideas what I can to with it??

John that thread is amazing! Thanks so much for pointing me to it.... some great concepts there. Tuning Fork, Golden Mean & the testing setup before deciding on scale length. Seriously feel much more confident about approaching my older boxes now. heres another can o worms - sound holes in relationship to the bridge. As the candle test dosnt work what does?? BTW this is why I love CBG the ever expansive opportunity to gain knowledge on so may different subjects from accoustic theory, electronics, woodworking - let alone playing and performing.
I think I would only work on it if you feel you have an instrument in your mind that needs that box, or if the box is calling to you. From what you say I would leave it somewhere visible and one day you will know exactly what it is meant to be (which might just be a box).
Regarding resonance, I don't know if you saw a thread I started on testing the box with a tuning fork. You might find it interesting (or maybe not). I shall be adding a little to that soon I think.
Breeze block... how do you test for resonance just flick the box?? Yeah I'm torn - its in such good nik that I might just keep it unmusical for the moment. My first two builds have been small. The next is one of those two boxes I have the stuff from China to go on it and a vintage De Armond pick up for the neck. I want to put a speaker in as well cause I go camping with other musician & it would be cool to have a self sufficient beast to take with me.
I have a black Cohiba with gold lettering and similar dimensions. It's a great looking box. I'm not sure yet, but probably a short scape travel guitar (will have to be electric because the box seems to have the resonance of a breeze block.
