  • I will likely just add a deeper slot in the neck cavity and install the pup under the lid. But you could also mount it quick & dirty by strapping it to the neck with zip-ties. ... hmm, I might even try that myself. Unlike my cbgs, these Kodakanjos are fairly easy to get back into after they are sealed up. Just a handful of sheet metal screws.

  • Ah I've been wondering about a through-the-can, fixed-to-the-can or in-the-can options for a pickup on a film can guitar.
I have some tuners, a lovely piece of ash 2"x3/4" and two precious 1000' cans hovering near the bench.
Perhaps I'll wait for your experiment before I commit to cutting into my can!

  • Thanks! I've got another one on the bench right now. Just for kicks, I'm going to see how these things sound with a mag pup mounted inside the can.

  • "Film at Eleven"!!! Nice S.D., Beautiful build man!

  • Boy do I like that!!

  • Thanks! It would probably hold up just fine, but I've got the lid resting on -and attached to- the neck cutout in two places: about 1/2" from the tail and again,1/2" from where the neck enters the can. It would be simple to build it without the lid touching at all, but this thing is already so loud,  it probably wouldn't make much difference. I didn't even need any sound holes.

  • Looks great!! Any support for the lid inside or does it hold up to string pressure all right? Very clean lines.

  • Nice, very nice!
    Sound check?
    Cheers,
    Steve
