1st kalimba I've made that wasnt a kit. Used electrical ground bar and electricians flat wire fish tape for the tines.Worried it wasnt going to work but once the box was glued shut , it turned out pretty good. just have to finish up the tines ends.

That's the same experience I've had. It never sounds as good as it does when the box is glued shut. I have a fish tape I'm going to try along with a ground bar as you have done.
