Jucy Lucy Amp - closed

A mini-amp based on the Little Gem amplifier circuit. I built this before I even started my CBG. I tested it by taping a piezo to my acoustic.

  • Make magazine (makezine.com) did an article a few years ago based on the Little Gem - heres the link to the project page: http://makeprojects.com/Project/The-5-Cracker-Box-Amp/64/1  The instruction aren't totally clear and this link: http://makezine.com/09/crackerboxamp/ takes you to a page where people are discussing questions about the build.  From that discussion I found a link to the schematic below, which lays out the circuit on a standard RadioShack prototyping board (part #276-150).  This should let you build the basic circuit with no problems, although if you start adding in additional mods you are on your own as I'm no electronics whiz.  I did add a switch into the power lead.  Hope this helps.

  • I would love to build my own amps based on the Ruby design from runoffgrove.com, however, while I can read a schematic enough to know the components, I tend to flounder when it comes to actually putting it all together. There are some things that are "understood" about schematics but not necessarily "on" the schematic. Not to mention I have a few circuit mods from other websites that I would like to include in the build. Can you offer any help with this problem?
