ODIN Viking Chugger CBG

Got three of these boxes off eBay years ago. The inspiration finally arrived to use one! There is no wood on this guitar. The box is vintage cardboard. All nonmetal components are 3D printed. The 2-piece neck is printed with Carbon Fiber infused PLA and has a 12" carbon Fiber rod inserted for stability. 20.5" scale length with the 5 (A) and 4 (D) strings from a classical guitar set (bought individually). Disc piezo pickup. The ribs on the lower wing are intended to stabilize the guitar on my leg and they work! (Lesson learned from the last version of these wings.) The Kluson locking tuners are really smooth.

  • Thanks Jonathan! The progression was from woodburning to individual labels to 3D printed strips with double sided tape.

      • I am the beneficiary of the ideas of all the other builders out there who have been willing to share. That is what community is all about. They inspire me to make better guitars. I won't claim any originality just a repurposing of great ideas I have seen implemented here at CBN and 3D printing sites.

  • It is BrianQ; it is! It's a standard feature on all my CBGs. I originally taped paper templates (as a temporary aid) to my CBGs for my first Intro to Cigar Box Guitars class, but when Marilyn (80 something) and Margaret (90 something) together purchased CBGs from me shortly after the class, they made it clear the letters were to be on the neck. I decided then it needed to be a standard feature. Guitar sacrilege? Probably. But in the CBG world of "no rules", why not?

  • Very beginner friendly!!
