Dulcimer Style Cigar Box Guitar #2

Phil showed off his CBG to friends. The result was an order for another one! This one has a scale length of 20", is tuned DADD, string weights are 30, 18, 13, 13. Alder neck with an oak fretboard. 3D printed fretboard, sound hole inserts, bridge, tailpiece, and strap jack. Disc piezo pickup. Came out sounding just as good as the first one.

  • Thanks for the great feedback Uncle John. Phil just left with it, so no more pictures possible. I did an almost identical build a few weeks ago, here are some pictures.

  • Looks very good from here.  I would like to see it better.  Seems like the view larger feature is gone.

  • You are very welcome, Doug. If you build another one, i am sure you can figure out how to play it comfortably. Possibly it's a matter of how you arrange the strings, tuners and however you attach the strings to the foot of the neck (ferrules, even?).

  • Thanks Jonathan! It does sound great although my test playing is with the instrument upside down since I'm a lefty. I may have to build one that I can play, but I would go for a chromatic fretboard for more flexibility.

  • Looks great. I am sure it sounds great, too!
