This neck was full of lessons. It was my 2nd build ever, my first fret job. The block fret markers are a cover up. When I drilled holes for my markers the wood broke out and splintered making for an ugly hole. I then squared them off and chiseled out for wood filler inlays. I now know what forstner bits are for. My wood filler didn't turn out as black as I would have liked, so I went over it with a magic marker. When I stained the neck the marker streaked the neck up, so I had to do some "creative rubbing" to try to achive the "dirty" look. Way too much time/work into this neck, tried to get too fancy too quickly instead of getting a few simple builds under my belt.

Love it! We all stuff up at sometime, and I see you are like me....hate to waist a neck!
These are the stuffups that teach us so much.
I'm on build No63 and still learning. Mind you I've sold 58 of them so far, so build quality has always been "saleable".
