Glenn, i will answer your questions in order. The hole was cut with a circle cutter used for cutting holes in drywall. I do not yet know how it will stand up to string pressure-stay tuned! Total experiment.Again, not sure but i think its going to be better than that! I've got bridge re-inforcement inside that hopefully will keep everything taunt!

This going to sound dumb. I've built a lot of gats but not with a tambo in it.
1) How to you cut the hole?
2) Will the tambo stand up to string tension? How much does it cave it under bridge pressure?
3) Getting a banjo-sih sound or what? I'm guessing very little sustain but maybe a nice warm plunk?
