I couldn't resist trying fretting, my first attempt and is seems fine so far. I used an ordinary Japanese crosscut saw and eyeballed depth. Neck as made from scap oak from a sawmill. Piece wasn't good enough to count as a board, had a lot of sapwood, wormholes, checks, etc. Got 2 neck blanks out of it though, and the wormholes add interest.
