Not a truss rod. Just reinforcement. Good job tho. Might have been stronger if you filled it with a strip of hardwood. Flat bar will be just as good if you score a couple trenches with the table saw and bang em in on their side under the fingerboard, essentially the same thing but less wood removed, this is what old lowe does. The way you've done makes a sweet path for some sympathy strings tho ;)
Not sure about inches... Its 10mmx10mmx1.5mm channel
I considered flat bar but i work in customer service for a company that deals in a lot of aluminium of that nature and i dont think it has enough strength.
I'll update when the strings are on and let you know if its effective. This is my first one so fingers crossed.
hey mate that looks like a great idea. I was thinking about using 10mm x 3mm flat aluminium for the truss rod. Have you used 1/2 inch square? That's probably stronger than what I had in mind to use....

Hey Zimzam the aluminium channel works great... gonna try some different ideas on future builds but deffinately recommend this.
I think I'll try one with sympathy strings next time aswell, sounds like fun.
Thanks for the tip, thats an interesting idea, might try that with my next build.
