One note about the oils. Dont let the sun shine on it while drying. Keep it in the shade around 60 to 70 degrees and if you find it is still tacky or oily feeling, put it under artificial light (fluorescent) about 12" away for a couple of hours and it will cure faster.
With the rising price of gas and the economy being down, finding the perfect cigar box to fit a 6 string neck was very difficult in my area. I like using the Cabrillas, Cohiba, and Man o War boxes but are becoming extremely hard to find due to their popularity. So I had the idea that I would make my own, being an avid woodworker it was fairly simple to make. Edge gluing can be a little frustrating with out the proper clamps but I figured it out thanks to my local WoodCraft shop and their helpful staff.
Teak oil takes about 3 days to completely dry and Danish oil takes about 24 hours to dry. Application was every thirty minutes to an hour flooding it and then wiping off. The effect is that stain and lacquers sit on the surface while your oils get deep into the wood and bring out the grain details and seal it from UV rays. Also hardens it and seals the grain. After all is well dried, buff lightly with 0000 steel wool and spray lacquer away. The Bullseye shellac by Zinsser method works better but you have to cut it in equal parts with Alcohol and an airbrushing or sprayer system.
