A nut will fit into the slot. Mike Orr 24 fret Black Walnut fretboard. Oak neck with a cover laminate of Cherry with Mahogany ears and Combover.

    Very elegant solution! May I steal the idea and use it on that bass neck (hockeystick type) I just put on display? My neck looks a bit too much hockeyish I think.
