Titebond Original wood glue. No pins, screws or nails, just glue. No trick, just parts that fit together well. I use a jointer plane but could also do (have done) the same with a hand plane. A couple of years ago I started a collection of hand planes because I just kept finding them for next to nothing at flea markets. Woodworking seems to be a dying art. For hand planing your neck stock in order to square the edges up, use a shooting board. Google it. When I cut the side ears I glue up the side that is already planed. Saves a step. Then I only have to worry about the neck. If the pieces fit well, a very thin bit of glue is all it will take. The glue bond is actually stronger than the wood.
Ive been wanting to try this but am afraid the glue won't hold under the tension. What glue do you use? Do you reinforce it with wood dow, screws, nalis? Any info would be great. Thanks
