oh lucky you rand China - all those cheap guitar parts.... and fret saws and strings....and coil winders.... all of which I have to risk buying blind on ebay. You could source a nice little import business whilst your there...
thanks for the comment on the head shape there was a bit of thought went into it.. I like the look of the straight run but now as I type I am wondering if maybe having the pesky angle actually takes pressure of the tension on the other end..
I was wondering what wood you used on the neck/headstock. What is it like without the stain? Generally all I use for staining is cooking oil then several coats of polyurethane (water based). When I get back to the states this summer, I think I'll pick up some small cans of stain. Here in China they sell it in big cans, enough to do a large deck. They don't seem to be focused on a hobby oriented market. But I digress...
Again, you've made a very nice CBG for a first build. I like the shape of your headstock. The notch makes placement of the pesky second machine tuner easy and gives you a straight string run from the tuner to the nut.
I've been waiting for a year - and staining isnt nearly as hard as making sure everything is square and getting scale length and tuner placement sorted...
