  • very cool.,.,

  • Thanks Elio - I finished #0011 cigar box guitar on Saturday. The Hoe Bits box was found last year in an antique store in Independence, OR with all the oil, paint and grime.
When I first saw this box I knew it would make a great industrial looking CBG. A few pieces were new - strings, frets, tuners and pots but everything else was repurposed. The neck came from a chunk of poplar that I found in the hardwood bin in the ReStore in North Portland, I left a few saw marks and dirtied it up with garage floor grime and brake dust, buffed it with 600 sandpaper put a wax finish on it so no splinters or dirty hands when playing. The pickup was a garage sale find and came from a weathered fender style pick guard that had 3 PUs and pots.
The other pieces are a cool old hinge for the tailpiece, brass drawer pull for the bridge, antique knobs for the volume and tone knobs, doorbell housing for the jack, antler for the nut, rifle strap hardware for the strap mount and horse tack for the strap.

  • Beautiful lived wood and fantastic details. Already see all the pieces or have you waited to find what was fine?I have a "box of wonders" every now and then I peach there.Really cool!
