The hardest part of the build was attempting to make pieces to fit the curvature of the Hand Drum. Then I got the bright idea of installing a small single wound pickup under the drum head (it’s hot glued to my front mounting piece. It works, but I have some amplifier hum issues I need to work out (I had to remove the bridge ground wire to actually reduce the hum). A word of caution to those who are married, this instrument is loud by itself and when you amplify it will bring the wrath of your wife down on you rather quickly.

  • I love the way you added those braces to strengthen the drum. Great design. Also, cool idea to put a magnetic pickup under the drum head.

  • Well I fixed by hum problem, I had switched the ground and hot wire on the jack. Re-soldered them, and the hum is gone!
