Fretboard

Wenge is a really cool wood, and this piece has some really great grain to it. I learned that wenge splinters can become septic... so I was really careful handling the wood, and wore a respirator while sanding, just to be safe (see album for more details on this guitar).

  • Hey Nathan. I'm making a fretboard out of wenge right now. It looks great but it's a pain in the ass to work with. I find it gets chippy and splintery in the band saw, and trying to hammer fret wires into it is infuriating. I had to widen the fret slots and fill them with Krazy glue and sit the wire in them.
