  • This being an old post but still very relevant.  I was at a local meta fab shop today and spied some stainless steel scraps that I was allowed to abscond for free.

    Sawed off a length to fit the blade and super glued it to my Stanley FatMax at the depth for frets...  Works like a charm.  I used one side of the saw against my square when marking out the fret positions and then flip the saw over and saw'm all to depth with ease. 

    Like they say...  If they don't find you handsome they should find you handy...

  • Super glued a thin strip of Brazilian walnut 1/8" above the teeth as a depth stop. Cut a test fret and the depth was even and the fret wire fit fine. Next step is to make a miter box with a slot just wide enough to except the modified saw. Then I'll take it for a test drive around the block! :)
