The project begins by creating a neck blank; in this case, laminated from poplar and rosewood because the standard 1" x 2" poplar stock isn't wide enough to make the fingerboard. This will also give the neck extra strength, so that it won't want to warp (not that it would anyway, on a ukulele.)The headstock is scarf-jointed and now glued up.
