Three strings, made with no experience and inadequate tools. The box had been re-purposed as a purse, but after my wife insisted for the third time that it had been a "fad" and she'd never carry it again, I stripped the lining and hardware (a few screws were re-used to attach the tuners). Botched the holes for the tuners, but the plate was so thin it just bent when I inserted it and I didn't realize the screw and cog weren't meshing until it was too late, and now one of the strings needs a little "assistance" from a screwdriver to get into tune.
