To make a pickup is not complicated just a labour of love. basically gets some magnets, line them up in the same way, all norths or souths pointing up in 2 plates top and bottom (bobbin). and wind some thin coated wire around the magnet a few thousand times!!!!! simples ;)
Its a transformer winder, basically it is DC motor with a counter on the rear. I use a variable 12V supply to control the speed.

Yeah, I want to make a pickup so bad but have no clue where to start. I don't know what that contraption is in this picture but I am pretty sure I don't have one.
