I picked out this box to work on in January 2014 (no typo). It's been sitting most of that time while I figured out a way to make a git out of it. Has an extremely thick lid. I ended up using maple as a through the box piece. Then I bolted a second piece of maple onto that for the neck. I used a metal bracket to keep the stings coming out of the tailpiece from digging into the lid. The neck has three coats of polyurethane and with a gold plated input jack it's ready to plug in and play!
