I had the idea for having 2 separate boxes a while ago. the idea is that one box is the sound box, and dosen't have any electrical mess in there to affect the sound. it also has the benefit of allowing the bridge to go right in the middle of the box surface, giving the maximum vibration. the second box extends the body and gives a nice wide playing area, which would have been impossibly small with the bridge in that position on a normal box. it also holds all of the electrics, meaning that you can just open one box to get in there.
