  • also, the stain does not penetrate deeply, so you have sand first and be careful when filing frets, etc.
  • put a piece of fine steel wool (no soap!) in a jar, cover with vinegar, let stand several days until wool breaks down. stir well. use as stain. effect varies greatly depending on species of wood, but I used it on some walnut I use for fretboards and it worked nicely.
