It's absolutely beautiful. The photo really doesnt do it justice. Its an Australian desert hardwood called "Ringed Gidgee" It's about 18 times harder than ebony & conducts sound well, so is great for fretboards. Usually it is available in a plain boring brown colour. A piece like this is fairly rare. The gold colour is actually the sapwood which you wouldnt normally use. But the extreme hardness of this species allows it to be used as a feature.
