The rim is scored on the backside then soaked in water for a day and then clamped in a form and left another day to dry. This method works ok but if you look close you can see some places that are sqaure due to the scoring. I also sanded a little to much in a few places and got down to it but it is not as noticable. It is backed on the inside with pine rims on the top and bottom so this does not effect the thickness of the rim. Overall it is a little over 1/8 inch thick.
