Ebony fretboard fit to my Padauk control plate

#21 lap steel coming together. First coats of varnish on the body and control plate. Fretboard cut to length and inset into control plate. I'm going to airbrush the fretboard markers before gluing it up. It will be easy that way.

  • Hi Jan, yes the Ebony will glue on tomorrow. I finished the airbrush. I'll perhaps post a photo tonight of the result. I just put a coat of varnish on it and it looks sharp. My spacing is off a little here and there, but It'll work for my playing. I'm liking this method. Its different, clear markings, kind of an optical illusion and doesn't take too long. I used latex white today with a finer airbrush. An Iwata illustrators brush. My favorite from many years of making illustrations with it.

  • nice wood nerve, in the ebony. is it gonna stay after the brushing?

  • Thanks Suspect, hope springs eternal...

  • This already looks good enough to eat! Real sharp!

  • Thanks Lane, I'm liking how this one is coming together.

  • Beautiful!
