I've got these spare bulk 35mm film cans from my career as a film maker and thought it might be fun to build a portable speaker out of one. I went online to Parts Express and got a transducer exciter and a preamp to boost my Kodakaster prototype (my beta test model). I stuck the exciter to the inside front service, taped the can shut, plugged my canjo into the preamp, and golly-Bob- howdy, it really works. Then, I made a simple tripod stand out of some wooden sticks I had in the garage. It's portable, loud enough, pretty cheap (preamp and exciter for under $60 including shipping) and I can bring out some needed bass tones and boost the power of my Kodakaster's piezo pup with the preamp, too. I stuck a sticker on the front about Bucky Fuller and doing more with less, and there ya go.
