  The kit if I remember right was about $100. We took out time and built it about a week. I love the sound. Reminds me of bagpipes. I am thinking of adding a pickup to it. Just don't want to damage the wood. I do not remember what type of wood the top was but I was told that I had got the last one with that type of wood top. (at that store I guess)
