"sitar box"

This is a experimental prototipe made for a friend of mine who wanted an small hindu like sounding instrument, after a research i´ve figured out how to make a jwari bridge, it gives the sitar sound, also i´ve put four harp like strings, for adding more oriental sound. I will post some video or sund sample later.Let me know what you think guys, greatings from argentina!detail of the inside, a piezo and a spring for bring more reverb sound

  • Hi guys, i share here a detail photo of the bridge, the inclination and the lenght of the bridge cause the "sitar" sound306597629?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

  • Jim, in my case i´ve tried with springs in a few instruments, some works, others didn´t, i think its a kind of lucky thing, i can´t tell you where and when works, and when not.

  • Well, just for the first hand experience, I installed a “spring reverb” in a couple of different places in what I think is a pretty good-sounding acoustic/electric cbg tonight. Let's see... how can I describe the effect?

    Ah, I know...

What a waste of time and space. lol
    (As always, YMMV)

  • LG > I found the picture of the “springfull thing” (good name) on the 'net. I forgot what it's called... but maybe it'll give you some ideas for your next guitar! ^^

  • also, what the hell is that springfull thing on the picture you´ve posted?

  • Jim, in my design it doesn´t add much of the sitar sound, i made a few cbg with springs, in tiny boxes the springs improve the acoustics adding the chamber sound that small boxes doesn´t have.
I hope you understand, my english is not the best ;)

  • I see a few homemade “spring reverbs” out there. I'm guessing it adds to the sitar-like sound effect?306599449?profile=original306600615?profile=original
