It was fun. Going to see about picking up a few packs of spare strings to keep around here as well as possibly ordering some machined tuners online. Started work on a 3-string CBG this morning but had to put it aside as my back was beginning to ache a bit. Getting old SUCKS! I did manage to get the neck cut, head stock cut out, holes drilled out and tuning pegs tested. Also printed out a fret template and hopefully have the frets marked correctly on the neck. Started work on dremeling out slots on either side of the smaller fence charger to see about using it for the box. That one's going to take a bit longer to make as there're a few minor support struts on the inside of the box along the path the neck needs to fit into. First time using a Dremel and didn't lose any body parts; so that's a win for me! :D
I took the tuning peg from an old crap guitar that never kept in tune, used an old Dilbert calendar tin, a clamp from a garden hose repair kit, a bolt I found laying around, some wood screws and a spare C-4th Nickel wound hoop banjo string. I'm sorry, CF Martin & Company... Not impressed with the tone from your string. It's CRAP!!
Made a little canjo diddly bo out of some crap I found around here. The old programmer's adage: Garbage in/garbage out never applied more! Because it's made from crap... and it sounds like crap! :)
