I think this is all I needed from my local Home Depot to start on two necks this weekend: two 1/4" X "2" pieces of red oak, four feet long and two 1/4" square lengths of steel. I'll sandwich the oak between two pieces of walnut I'll mill down to about 3/4" X 2". I'll drop the edge of the oak down just over 1/4" creating a channel for the steel to ride in as a truss rod. Don't know if its been done like that before, but it seemed obvious to me.
