Here is my latest cigar box diddly bow. Actually, I am not sure it could pass for a one string guitar or even a one string (spike) fiddle. The construction is fairly simple: a wood dowel (i think about 5/8 inch diameter), cigar box,  5/8 diameter woo dowel for the bridge, an eye bolt, two washers, a nut and a wing nut, a small screw eye and a wood screw. The tuner consists of the eye bolt, washers, nut and wing nut. The small screw eye doubles as guide scriew and nut. The string is a piiece of packaging twine. Maybe this diddlybow doesn't howl, scream and sing the way a diddly bow with a guitar string does but the instrument can probably hold its own.
