Diatonic Guitar Frets

I always need a document to refer back to to make sure I got the right frets when making a diatonic fretboard, so I thought I'd post one as a photo to my personal blog on CBN.

  • 3, 11 & 23 are Chromatic frets, called the 1 1/2, 6 1/2 & 13 1/2 fret respectively on the Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer. They aren't found on traditional Mountain Dulcimers, but are becoming more common these days. Some folks even build fully Chromatic Mountain Dulcimers. I built a Mountain Dulcimer with a 6 1/2 fret, and bought another without one, and I get screwed up going back and forth between the two.
    I think the idea of having the 6 1/2 is so that you don't have to retune

  • Just a note for putting some very helpful tips on CBN pages. i found them usefull and time saving as I start this hobby.
