  • I use D'Addario lights (.010-.046). Don't play slide too much on this as I have others that are better suited to it.
Use a 5/8" socket cut down to about 1-7/8" long for a slide.
  • Ernie Ball Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom (010, .013, .017, .030, .042, .052)
I had to seat one fret out of the box, but other than that, mine didn't need much of anything.
The OE40 has a wooden bridge. I swapped mine out for a metal Gretsch bridge. That was just a tone thing though. I think the Gretsch is a bit brighter.

About slide. I'm pretty raw with a bottleneck. That works out ok, depending on what I'm trying to accomplish. Lol.
I usually use a Stevens bar. I HAVE to have some high action for that though. It's easy to control, but so heavy it's like dropping a bowling ball on the neck.
  • Well, for me guys, It took a LOT for me to get it set up right. I can't seem to get the intonation right.

Ya'll, what grand strings do you use? I have Ernie Ball Super Slinkies (light but nice).

  • Funny thing is that I can do slide on this one but not on my acoustic 6 string and the acoustic has a higher action. Go figgur.
  • I've got the OE40 hollowbody. Plays and sounds great.
I was thinking about buying a square neck reso. I put an extension nut on the Washburn just to get that Dobro feel and to see if I really wanted to spend money on a big ol' resonator. Well, it sounded so good that I just left it like that.
  • I have the same guitar hanging on my wall. Plays and sounds great.
  • Yeah, I got mine for about $150. Read reviews saying it was not a bad one for the price. Short of having a high nut (easily fixed) and a few other minor issues, it plays well.
  • I have the exact same guitar a friend gave me because the switch was broken and the ground wire had come loose. I sure didn't like fixing it, but for free, you can't beat the price.
