  • Great idea! I'll give that a shot on my next build.

  • Here's a thought if you don't want the strings dragging over the edge of the headstock - get 1/4 inch copper tubing, split a few inches, pound it flat, then bend it over the edge, run the strings over the copper - I've done this at the tail when there wasn't enough clearance for the strings over the box to the bridge
  • Thanks for the tips Robert I will definitely give this try
  • I'll tell you Joe, this is my 3rd build with eye bolts and I've struggled getting the string to wind easily onto the shaft. Then last night I finally broke down and drilled a hole through it. Now it work's great. :-)

I'll use these almost exclusively now.

If you're interested the order is... bolt - nut - washer - wing nut.

You can't see it here, but on the top side I used a 1/2" forstner bit to cut an 1/8" recess for the top washer and nut. Usually unnecessary, but I had rounded the head stock the same as the back and wanted to give the washer a flat surface to lay on.

  • Hmmm - I think I'd like to try this....
