Thanks, Bruce. Yep. The last three I did, I strung up with the EADs ( light acoustic) They sound pretty good.. low & deep. I have never had much luck with the low D or E tunings before, usually due to string tension or tone problems, but I've started beefing up the neck bracing on the more recent builds and that has helped. Also, I am learning more/figuring stuff out trial-n-error. I just finished a 24.75" scale 4-string tuned D-A-D-A, nice, haunting sound to it.
That is cool! I had not thought about doing the DAD tuning with all wound strings! I like it. So you just use the EAD strings and drop the E to D? Gotta try that. I use D A d ( D a d?) never sure, at lot but the lower register would be nice and warm.
