  • Thanks Glenn.

The copper is soft, but I don't think strength will be an issue, as anywhere it's used structurally is as tubing which is quite strong.  The veneer on the peghead is just decorative, as is the "truss rod" cover, which is a pendant I found at a Micheal's craft store, though it does help to position the nut.  While I generally don't add things just for decoration, I thought this just looked "right" on it.

No, no truss rod.  The neck is quarter-sawn maple with a maple fingerboard glued full length, so it should be okay - didn't take a lot off the neck when shaping it.

BTW. nice job on "Puppy Love"!

  • oooh...NICE! Copper is pretty soft - what did you coat over it? You put a truss rod in everything? I only did it once when I made a gat for a tiny gal and took too much wood out of the neck Tested it and it bowed easily, so had to rout out the back of the neck, rod it, laminate a piece of scrap rosewood over it. Cost me many hours. http://www.cigarboxnation.com/photo/blind-gee-013-puppy-love-3?cont...
