First off, there is no such thing as a dumb question ;)
On this one I removed the hinges and the latch from the box, had the string holes drilled at a slight angle through the wood support glued to the bottom half of the box so the string tension kept the back down without glue, all other electronics were attached to the top half , except for the humbuckers, they are "floating" and if you look close you will see that the pickup cutout on the top of the box is not square, but actually curves in , i just drop em in to the holes, the brass height adjustment tabs keep em from falling through when held upsidown, then I just thread the strings through the hole, place the bottom on (no glue), flip er over, and since I never use the height adjustment, I put screws through the top, which pass through the holes in the brass tabs, and into the box support worked great, the front end stayed down with 2 metal box corners.
to take apart i had to just take off the strings and 8 small screws.
rinse and repeat...
If you dont mind sanding and repainting you can make a thin angled cut (like the top of a carved pumpkin), or make a decorative inlay to cover an access hole like below...hide glue is your friend.... if you use that you can just heat it up when you need to get inside,.. thats what they use on cellos etc. hope that helps...
P.S.
dont try to remove the back along finger joints and stick em back "just like they were before"... trust me... :)
Patric when you make your electrics up, do you make your box top where you could get at your electrics if something were to go bad. May be a dumb question but I see alot of the boxes put together glued tight, but im thinking what if the jack plug nut lets say wiggles loose after plugging and unplugging the amp cord . you know how things like that happen. then what ? So I was wondering about that . And im liking the cleanness of the way everything goes in so sharp and crisp to the box. I mean man I couldnt see tearing one of your guitars apart cause a wire cracked or something. Dumb question maybe , but i just figured id ask the one doing it . thanks in advance , oh and if you didnt already notice , fine work brotha.
