  • Hi Rand - thank you for he information. I shall have to have a go at making one to keep in my car. I hope the class went well.

    Regards,
    David
  • Very nice looking bunch of Gits there Rand! Good luck!
  • Hi David,
Thanks for the favorable comments. The short scale can dulcimer (a 2-stringer) has a 38cm scale length. The sort head stock was made possible by using two ukulele friction tuners. The strings are also uke string. This little dulcimer is one of my favorites. I can carry it around anywhere and practice my songs. The volume is not that great but okay for a practice instrument.
    -Rand.
  • Those are beautiful instruments, so graceful and clean.

  • Nice looking line up!
  • They look great Rand.
I love the instruments you have made - could I ask what is the scale length of the tin can dulcimer at the front of the photo please?
    Good luck with your club.
  • Group photo of all the stick dulcimers that I still have on hand. I have a class coming up on Thursday ("Introduction to the Stick Dulcimer") and so I have to round up 15 instruments to allow folks the opportunity to play them. I have three more in the late stages of building, and should have them ready by "show time". The audience will be adults from the international community here in Shenzhen, China. I'm hoping it will evolve into a club for folks to build and/or play their own home made instruments.

    -Rand.
